Even the new car seat is difficult to work with...The buckle sits so low and the straps barely fit around her. But we are making it work the best we can. The hospital provided us with this car seat to use while she is in the cast, we are lucky because most hospitals don't do that and even though UIHC does they usually have a waiting list for one. But we planned ahead and had them hold one for her a few weeks ago =)
